Secret Files of the Inquisition (2006)

Episode Overview

In the rugged Pyrenees of present-day France, a period of intense religious fervor sees the Church of Rome asserting its dominance as the sole true faith while heresy spreads among the people. In response, the Pope dispatches the Inquisitors to root out and eliminate these dissenters. Those who do not conform are relentlessly pursued, tried, and often executed in flames. In 1308, the entire community of Montaillou finds itself ensnared by the Inquisition's grip. No one is spared—neither the local priest nor the lady of the castle. From clandestine documents emerge shocking insights into life in the village under the watchful eye of the Inquisition.
